Reflexology
Reflexology is a complementary therapy that treats the whole body. Every organ, structure and system of the body is mirrored in the feet and hands. They are connected through a system of energy within the body, which can become congested or blocked, causing the body to function less effectively.
Reflexology practitioners seek to relax tension and direct the free flow of energy throughout the body, thus encouraging normal bodily functions stimulating each individual's natural healing process. If you have a particular condition then you will find Reflexology to be a nurturing, relaxing treatment that will help your body begin to balance and heal itself. Regular Reflexology treatments will help you keep that balance and develop a lasting sense of well being.
Reflexology works along holistic principles taking in account body, mind and spirit and facilitates a state of homeostasis or balance. It is based upon the theory that every organ, structure and part of the body is reflected in a related part of the foot.
Reflexology is a safe natural therapy and may aid in the relief of a wide range of acute or chronic conditions. It brings about the relaxation response providing the right environment for change to take place within the body.
Reflexology can be used to help restore and maintain the body's natural equilibrium. This gentle therapy encourages the body to work naturally to restore its own healthy balance. Reflexology has been shown to be effective for many conditions including:
- Stress related conditions
- Sinus congestion
- Back pain
- Anxiety and depression
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome
- Digestive disorders
- ME (chronic fatigue syndrome)
- Hypertension
- Migraine
- Vertigo
- Headaches
Spinal Reflexology
It is estimated that 4 out of 5 people experience back or neck pain at some time and it is the single biggest cause for time taken off work. Spinal Reflexology is a very relaxing treatment involving gentle mobilisation of the spine and muscle release techniques.
It is very effective at treating most forms of back and neck pain. Sciatica or leg pain caused by the spine and pelvis also responds well to spinal reflexology.
Why choose Spinal Reflexology?
The nerve supply to your body, the spinal cord, runs through the length of your spine, protected by the bones of your vertebrae. Any abnormality with a vertebra or the surrounding tissues can compromise the messages travelling to and from the brain through the nervous system. Correct information received by the brain is crucial to the health of every part of the body.
The movements are gentle and subtle and no joint is ever taken to its full range of motion, as this is not considered to be necessary for the treatment to be effective. There are no sudden and forceful manipulations. The treatment involves releasing muscles from spasm or tension thereby allowing normal vertebral positioning and function to return naturally.
It is preferable to treat directly on the skin. However, the treatment can also be performed through clothing, if preferred. Wear something loose with jogging trousers and a t-shirt being ideal.
An excellent way to relax and release all that stress!
Spinal Reflexology can help you to gain and maintain a healthy body as treatment is applied to the whole body through the spine whether there is a problem or not. You don't have to have something wrong with you to benefit from Spinal Reflexology.
Conditions that may benefit from Spinal Reflexology
The conditions that may improve as a result of Spinal Reflexology is a long one, involving every part of the body. The theory closely mirrors the claims made by Chiropractors and Osteopaths, but with Spinal Reflexology the idea is not to treat specific illnesses but to improve the functioning and healing response throughout the body.
- Aches and pains in general
- Arthritis
- Bladder weakness
- Constipation
- Dizziness
- Facial neuralgia
- Indigestion
- Irritable bowel syndrome
- Lack of coordination
- Menstrual problems
- Migraine and other headaches
- Sinus problems
Reiki
Reiki means "Universal Life Force Energy". It is the vital force that flows through all matter and can be accessed quickly and easily for a powerful form of healing known as Reiki. In a Reiki healing session, the practitioner places their hands onto the patient's body and the energy flows. Reiki is a safe, natural and holistic way of treating many conditions.
It works in harmony with all other treatments or therapies. Reiki has many uses that include relief of stress, depression and anxiety; promoting inner calm and well being; it can ease pain and help heal injuries.
Hopi Ear Candles (Thermo-auricular Therapy)
Ear candling is an ancient, mild and natural therapy and the use of ear candles to treat ear problems has been known for centuries..
Ear Candles can help with the treatment of sinusitis, rhinitis, ear wax, earache and irritation of the ears including tinnitus. It is also suitable for the treatment of headaches and migraines. The pressure regulating capacity of the treatment has been of benefit to air travellers.
Therapeutic Touch (TT) Healing
Therapeutic Touch is an approach to healing similar to the ancient art of "laying on of hands". It involves practitioners using their hands - mainly very near the body as well as gentle touch - to promote the innate self-healing response of the client. Research suggests that TT can therefore be of help in promoting general health and well-being.
It is most useful to reduce or eliminate pain, promote healing, and elicit a relaxation response...
